Purpose of the Role

The Assistant Manager – HRBP plays a pivotal role in aligning business objectives with employees and management within designated departments. This role acts as a strategic partner to the business, ensuring the effective delivery of HR services, fostering a high-performance culture, and driving employee engagement and compliance across the plant.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Act as the primary HR point of contact for the assigned department/team.
  • Ensure smooth execution of HR processes including onboarding, confirmation, transfers, and exits.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data for all workforce categories (FTE, FTC, shopfloor, contract).
  • Facilitate induction and orientation programs for new joiners.
  • Monitor probation and confirmation processes, ensuring timely feedback and documentation.
  • Support career progression, internal mobility, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Employee Engagement Specialist to drive engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct skip-level meetings, pulse surveys, and feedback sessions.
  • Address employee grievances and escalate complex issues to DGM-HRBP.
  • Coordinate goal-setting, mid-year reviews, and annual appraisals for the assigned team.
  • Support managers in conducting performance conversations and managing underperformance.
  • Ensure timely closure of performance documentation and calibration processes.
  • Ensure adherence to labor laws, company policies, and code of conduct.
  • Monitor contractor workforce practices in collaboration with vendor management teams.
  • Conduct audits and checks to ensure compliance in attendance, leave, and wage practices.
  • Prepare and share periodic HR dashboards and reports (e.g., attrition, headcount, engagement scores).
  • Analyze trends and provide insights to DGM-HRBP for strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain MIS for HR operations and workforce metrics.
  • Identify training needs in collaboration with line managers and L&D team.
  • Coordinate functional and behavioral training programs for the assigned team.
  • Track training effectiveness and participation across workforce categories.
  • Support IR initiatives and maintain harmonious relations with shopfloor employees.
  • Participate in welfare committee meetings and grievance redressal forums.
  • Ensure visibility and approachability on the shopfloor through regular interactions.
  • Contribute to plant-wide HR initiatives such as DEI, digitization, and wellness programs.
  • Support implementation of new HR systems, policies, and change management efforts.
  • Drive special projects assigned by DGM-HRBP.
  • Partner with line managers, supervisors to resolve HR issues.
  • Liaise with central HR teams (C&B, TA, L&D) for specialized support.
  • Ensure timely communication and alignment with plant leadership.

Knowledge Generic

Essential

  • MBA in HR
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in HRBP or related HR roles
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, compliance, and employee engagement
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive initiatives independently

Desired

  • Experience in manufacturing or plant HR operations
  • Exposure to IR and shopfloor engagement
  • Familiarity with HR systems and data analytics
