Purpose of the Role
As a Quality Engineer within the Global Problem Management function, you will help teams to drive structured problem resolution across the product lifecycle, enabling them to apply 8D methodologies, analyse root causes, and enabling cross-functional teams to prioritise and resolve quality issues, standardise tools, embed lessons learned, and
ensure robust governance to improve product quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement
Key Responsibility Areas
• Apply and promote consistent use of structured problem-solving tools, including 8D, across the organisation.
• Develop and improve methods and processes to resolve product quality issues across the full product lifecycle.
• Support development and delivery of training on problem-solving processes, tools, and best practices.
• Perform triage on all new problems as they are raised to ensure correct problem definition and ownership.
• Facilitate cross-functional alignment, ensuring prioritisation of issues and clear ownership when ambiguity exists.
• Ensure robust governance across functions including rigorous root cause analysis and verification of problem resolutions at closure stage.
• Cross-check lessons learned are embedded into FMEAs, standards, and continuous product and process improvement activities.
• Develop and maintain clear, standardised reporting of problem status.
• Monitor key performance indicators (e.g., triage timeliness, closure quality, recurrence rate) for problem management and initiate improvement activities where deficits are identified.
• Support system adoption across functions through guidance, governance, and training.
Knowledge Generic
• 3+ year’s experience in problem management, ideally at a Tier 1 Automotive Supplier.
• Fully proficient in the 8D problem-solving methodology
• Experience in developing new processes or heavily optimising existing processes.
• Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Quality related subject.
• Experience In The Automotive Industry, preferably In a Tier 1 Supplier Environment
• Preferred: Certified 6 sigma Green Belt.
• Preferred: Core Tools Certified (APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP / Control Plan)
• Preferred: Experience with SharePoint, PowerApps and Power BI.
• Nice to have: Experience in a start-up environment.
