Key Responsibility Areas

Program Leadership & Strategy:

Develop and lead the overall construction program schedule, ensuring alignment with the product launch timeline and organizational goals. Monitor progress, address challenges, and drive accountability to ensure on-time delivery of the gigafactory.

 

Cross-Functional Team Management:

Lead and motivate a diverse, cross-functional team including construction managers, engineers, procurement specialists, contractors, and vendors to execute the construction program effectively.

 

Construction Oversight:

Oversee all construction phases, including civil work, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) installations, procurement processes, and commissioning of utilities, ensuring seamless integration and coordination across all workstreams, from a schedule and program management point of view.

 

Risk & Issue Management:

Proactively identify potential risks, mitigate challenges, and develop contingency plans. Lead the resolution of any construction or operational obstacles that could impact the project timeline, cost, or quality.

 

Stakeholder & Vendor Management:

Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, contractors, and suppliers, to maintain alignment on project objectives, expectations, and timelines.

 

Budget & Cost Control and EVM (Earned Value Management)

Work closely with the construction cost management team, ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety or quality standards. Lead EVM workstream for the project.

 

Assertive Communication & Reporting:

Communicate effectively and assertively with senior leadership and other stakeholders, providing regular updates on program progress, key issues, and risk mitigation strategies. Ensure transparent and proactive communication across all levels of the project team.

  • 20+ years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale industrial projects (preferably in manufacturing or automotive sectors).
  • Proven track record in leading complex construction projects, including civil works, MEP, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to motivate, guide, and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional project planning, scheduling, and risk management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior executives, contractors, and team members.
  • Bold and assertive leadership style, able to make decisions under pressure and manage conflict.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety protocols and quality assurance practices.
