Purpose of the Role

The Process & Equipment Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safety of both processes and equipment within the Li-Ion Cell Manufacturing environment. The role involves leading safety programs, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and implementing best practices to minimize hazards associated with the equipment, processes, and overall plant operations. The manager will closely work with the process & equipment development team, equipment manufacturing vendors, and external safety assessment bodies in India and overseas to ensure that safety protocols are adhered to throughout the lifecycle of the equipment and production processes.

Knowledge Generic

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related technical field. Master’s degree or professional certifications in process safety or equipment safety is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of process safety management systems (PSM), Hazard Analysis (HAZOP, FMEA), Risk Assessment techniques.
    • Expertise in the design and implementation of safety systems such as emergency shutdown systems, safety interlocks, and fire protection systems.
  • Hazard Awareness:
    • In-depth knowledge of the hazards of the Li-Ion manufacturing process, including the risks associated with chemicals used in the process.

Job Context

Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 to 10 years of experience in process safety, equipment safety, or a related field in a Li-Ion Cell Manufacturing or a similar advanced manufacturing environment.
    • Proven experience with safety management systems, risk assessments, safety audits, and compliance with industry standards.
    • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing safety strategies for complex manufacturing processes and equipment.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Certification in Safety Management or Process Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, CFSE, etc.) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with advanced process safety tools and technologies, including AI-based safety monitoring systems and predictive maintenance tools.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in Sanand, Gujarat, and may require occasional travel to other company locations, suppliers, or partners.
  • The role will involve working in a manufacturing environment, adhering to strict safety and operational protocols.

Flexibility may be required to support production schedules and resolve safety-related challenges.
