Purpose of the Role

The Mixing Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining mixing equipment used in electrode slurry preparation. The role ensures consistency in slurry quality, adherence to process parameters, and safe operation of equipment. Experience in dry room environments is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibility Areas

Machine Operation

  • Operate planetary, double planetary, high-shear, and vacuum mixers as per defined SOPs
  • Set and control machine parameters such as speed, mixing time, temperature, and vacuum levels
  • Accurately handle and load powders, binders, and solvents as per batch requirements
  • Monitor machine performance, identify deviations, and respond to alarms or process abnormalities

Batch Preparation

  • Prepare electrode slurry batches strictly as per defined recipes and process instructions
  • Perform visual inspection to ensure uniformity and proper dispersion
  • Safely transfer prepared slurry to the coating process/stage while maintaining quality standards

Equipment Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean mixing vessels, blades, and lids thoroughly after each batch to avoid contamination
  • Perform pre-start checks to ensure equipment readiness
  • Report any equipment malfunction or abnormalities immediately to the supervisor or maintenance team

Safety & Dry Room Compliance

  • Follow all powder handling and solvent safety protocols
  • Adhere to dry room and gowning procedures (where applicable)

Knowledge Generic

  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related discipline
  • Relevant technical certification in manufacturing or process operations is an added advantage
  • Basic understanding of mixing processes, slurry preparation, and batch manufacturing
  • Familiarity with mixing equipment such as planetary mixers, high-shear mixers, and vacuum mixers
  • Knowledge of process parameters like viscosity, temperature, and mixing time
  • Awareness of material handling for powders, binders, and solvents
  • Basic understanding of SOPs, GMP, and quality standards
  • Exposure to dry room operations is preferred
  • Understanding of safety protocols related to chemicals, solvents, and equipment handling
  • Ability to read and follow process instructions, batch sheets, and work orders
