Facility:  1301
Description:

Purpose of the Role

The Research Lab Technician for the Material Characterisation Lab will be responsible for conducting advanced material characterisation of Li-ion battery components to support R&D efforts in improving battery performance. This role involves using techniques like SEM, XRD, and FTIR to analyse materials and assist in material validation.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Cell Teardown: Teardown the pouch cells and analysis each component with respect to material characterizations.
  • Material Characterisation: Conduct a range of characterisation tests (e.g., SEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy) to analyse the properties and structure of Li-ion battery materials.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Record data from characterisation tests, interpret results, and provide insights into material properties and behaviour.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain advanced characterisation equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Documentation and Reporting: SOP & Work index drafting and revision responsibilities.
  • Wet chemistry lab: Laboratory experience of organic materials and solvent purification system, sample preparation of materials.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of experiments and analyses. Assist in preparing technical reports summarising findings.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Material Characterisation Expertise: Proficiency in using advanced characterisation tools (e.g., SEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy) to analyse battery materials.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex data from characterisation tests and interpret material properties.
  • Equipment Handling: Experience in setting up, operating, and maintaining characterisation instruments.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to follow precise procedures and document results accurately.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work closely with R&D teams, providing valuable data to support material optimization and cell design.
