What you'll do…

 

As a Manager - Global Process Engineering Programmes you will lead the successful delivery of multiple technical manufacturing engineering projects across our battery cell manufacturing programmes. Reporting to the Head of Programme Management, you will provide leadership and direction to a team of Technical Project Leads and Project Engineers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Working within a fast-paced Gigafactory environment, you will oversee the delivery of manufacturing equipment, systems and industrialisation projects from concept through commissioning and operational handover. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Facilities and external suppliers to drive programme performance, manage risks and ensure successful project execution.

This is a critical leadership role supporting the development and ramp-up of one of the UK's largest battery manufacturing facilities.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Technical Project Leads and project delivery professionals, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Manage a portfolio of technical manufacturing projects from concept through commissioning, qualification and operational handover.
  • Ensure robust project plans, schedules, budgets and resource forecasts are developed, maintained and delivered successfully.
  • Monitor project performance against key milestones and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Drive achievement of programme objectives, gateway approvals and manufacturing readiness targets.
  • Establish and maintain project governance structures, controls and reporting processes across the project portfolio.
  • Provide clear and accurate project status reporting to programme leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Lead risk identification, mitigation planning and escalation activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee project change control, ensuring impacts to scope, cost, quality and schedule are fully assessed and managed.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts and financial performance, highlighting risks and recovery actions where required.
  • Lead engagement with equipment vendors, OEMs, engineering partners and specialist suppliers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Manage supplier performance against contractual commitments, quality requirements and programme milestones.
  • Support supplier selection, bid evaluations, contract reviews and procurement activities.
  • Coordinate activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement and Facilities teams.
  • Support manufacturing expansion, industrialisation and production ramp-up activities.
  • Ensure projects comply with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned and best practice project delivery across the programme.

  • Experience delivering engineering, manufacturing or industrial projects.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Expertise in project planning, risk, change and budget management.
  • Experience managing global suppliers, contractors and project delivery teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of manufacturing environments.
  • Experience within battery manufacturing, automotive, energy or large-scale industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, commissioning and production ramp-up activities would be beneficial.
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
