Purpose of the Role
The Logistics Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the inbound and outbound logistics processes, freight management, and customs operations. Candidate’s leadership will be crucial in ensuring the seamless flow of goods, efficient transportation, and compliance with customs and regulatory regulations. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong operational expertise, and effective team management skills to drive the success of supply chain operations.
Key Responsibility Areas
Logistics Management
- Oversee and coordinate inbound and outbound logistic activities, including transportation, distribution, and external warehousing.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate yet compliant shipping processes, prompt and effective coordination, and OTIF deliveries to meet business demands.
- Monitor transportation routes, modes, and carriers to analyse costs, services and shipping performance.
Freight Planning and Supplier Management
- Manage and negotiate with freight carriers, forwarders, and other logistics partners to ensure competitive rates and reliable services.
- Plan and develop freight solutions, including routes and modes planning, freight scheduling, and shipments tracking to deliver optimal results.
Customs and Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee customs clearance processes, ensuring adherence to all customs regulations, import & export laws, and trade compliance standards.
- Prepare and validate shipping documentations, including invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Performance Management
- Identify risks in network logistics, such as transport delays, customs issues and regulatory changes, and develop mitigation plans.
- Continuous improvement on day-to-day network logistic operations through lessons learnt, shipping KPIs, supplier performance, etc.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain/business administration/engineering
- Proven extensive experience in global supply chain operations, international logistics and customs management
- Proficient in Supply Chain systems, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Lists.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Problem-solving orientation and a proactive approach to addressing supply chain challenges.
- Project management skills to lead process improvement initiatives and drive operational excellence.
- Expertise in logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution strategies, especially for dangerous and hazardous goods.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills with logistics service partners
- Ability to think strategically while focusing on the day-to-day operations.
