What you’ll do…
As a Quality Engineer – Cell Disassembly, you will be responsible for investigating product failures—whether identified at the end of the manufacturing process or reported through customer feedback. Your focus will be on reproducing failure mechanisms, identifying root causes, and supporting the development of robust solutions to prevent recurrence.
You’ll apply a range of advanced techniques, from non-invasive electrochemical and imaging methods to destructive tear-down and materials analysis. This role also involves contributing to the design and operation of the Failure Analysis Lab, supporting continuous improvement, and collaborating with global Agratas teams to share insights and best practices.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee all activities within the Tear Down Lab, acting as a subject matter expert on cell faults and disassembly techniques
- Implement control plans and test procedures for failure analysis, including risk assessments, COSHH, and SOPs
- Conduct material and cell characterization tests using both destructive and non-destructive methods
- Compile detailed evaluation reports and review examination results to support root cause analysis
- Contribute to the development of integrated solutions and preventive controls for recurring failures
- Support the installation and commissioning of lab equipment (e.g., glove boxes, disassembly tools)
- Help define lab design requirements, ensuring safety, functionality, and operational efficiency
- Provide technical guidance on disassembly protocols and techniques to engineers within the Failure Analysis team
- Continuously improve lab workflows and analysis methods to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global sites to align on quality standards and share learnings

- Proficiency in cell tear-down processes across various formats (cylindrical, pouch, prismatic)
- In-depth understanding of the full cell manufacturing process, from mixing materials to final assembly
- Hands-on experience with electrochemical testing (e.g., cycling, formation, EIS, ageing)
- Familiarity with microscopy and spectroscopy techniques (e.g., SEM/EDS, XRD, CT, ICP-MS, GC-MS)
- Experience managing projects and coordinating technical activities is advantageous
- Knowledge of quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, and ISO 9001 quality systems
What you’ll get…
