Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors.
We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands and we are currently building a battery manufacturing facility in Somerset and looking to complement, scale and grow our R&D facilities in Abingdon and Coventry with the brightest minds from within the battery and EV sector.

Purpose of the Role
As an Advanced battery concept lead, you will be supporting the development of pre-kick off (Pre KO) concepts for HV Battery packs for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and ESS, ensuring activities within Advanced Engineering and other internal departments are aligned with the technology roadmap for the product. Reporting to Engineering product manager, you will support concept generation, benchmarking and technology roadmap creation, market analysis of competitor technologies & attribute setting for future product offerings.

Key Responsibility Areas
- Product Benchmarking: Lead efforts to collect, analyze, and communicate benchmarking data across the battery systems industry, supporting Pack engineering and related commodities.
- Market Strategy & Trends: Coordinate benchmarking events with product stakeholders to evaluate emerging technologies. Monitor OEMs and competitors to identify future battery system innovations.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of advancements in battery tech, materials, and manufacturing. Apply best practices to drive ongoing improvements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with external customers, suppliers, and internal Agratas teams to develop battery system and sub-system concepts aligned with technical and delivery goals.
- System Architecture Analysis: Use steady-state and dynamic simulations to research and propose optimal battery system architectures tailored to specific use cases.
- Product Development Support: Assist Engineering Managers and Product Owners from Proof of Concept through C-sample and production phases.
- Design Process Contribution: Support sourcing, purchasing, and component selection with strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and supply chain dynamics.
- Documentation Management: Ensure all project documentation is properly maintained and released according to company standards.
- Technical Leadership: Chair and represent the Advanced Engineering team in technical reviews, providing strategic guidance and oversight.

- Proven experience in Battery design and Integration.
- Has high level understanding and deep interest of the battery industry, keeping up to date with the latest advancements in technologies and manufacturing methodology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong internal relationships.
