We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands, and we are currently building a battery manufacturing facility in Somerset and looking to compliment, scale and grow our R&D facilities in Abingdon and Coventry with the brightest minds from within the battery and EV sector.

Purpose of the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Key Account Manager (KAM) to be responsible for managing and growing strategic customer relationships within the Tier 1 automotive sector. This role is pivotal in driving revenue growth, ensuring customer satisfaction, and aligning internal resources to meet customer needs. As a senior leader, the KAM will oversee a team and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and R&D to deliver tailored solutions.

You’ll act as the primary point of contact, ensuring long-term client satisfaction and business growth. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to align on strategic goals. You'll also gather and share market intelligence to help shape product development and long-term planning.

This is a hybrid working role that will be based in our Coventry office. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of sustainable energy solutions in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibility Areas

•    Develop and execute account strategies for high-value automotive OEM
•    Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring long-term relationship development and retention
•    Establish an account management framework that defines the way we engage with customers commercially incorporating contracts, pricing, T&Cs, product warranties. 
•    Creation of commercial contracts to underpin the product requirement and deliverables. 
•    Work with the Program Management team to develop products and implementation plan. 
•    Lead customer opportunities to develop a good understanding of their business and technical requirements and articulate their strategies, roadmaps and solutions to Agratas teams. 
•    Develop close working relationships with key internal and OEM stakeholders, becoming a trusted advisor to customers. 
•    Working with R&D and Strategy teams to identify ideas for revenue generation and converting those ideas into leads, leads to opportunities to support Business Development head in building the pipeline. 
•    Support stakeholders in relation to internal reporting, opportunity management, new capability building. 
•    Working collaboratively with Operations, Program Managers & Partners to ensure seamless delivery execution. 
•    Be the customer’s point of escalation for ad-hoc issues that arise. 
•    Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and implement improvement plans
•    Lead, mentor, and develop a team of account managers and support staff
•    Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and foster a high-performance culture

Qualifications and Experience

  • Background in engineering or technical sales
  • Professional certifications in account management or sales leadership
  • Proven experience in key account management within Tier 1 automotive
  • Familiarity with project management tools and software
  • Good understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies, manufacturing processes, and applications
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and self-confidence  
  • Previous experience of establishing relationships with existing as well as new customers and becoming their trusted advisor.  
  • Ability to articulate customer requirements to internal programme and technical product teams.  
  • Proven track record of managing multimillion-pound accounts and leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, often in multiple locations globally
