What you’ll do…

As a PMO Technical Project Lead, you will play a key role in leading the successful planning, execution, and monitoring of projects within our battery cell manufacturing facility. 

Your primary responsibility will be leading a project focused on the implementation of AI and automation solutions within our Gigafactory programmes. You will manage the delivery of technical activities, working closely with engineering, data, and operations teams to ensure all project milestones are delivered on time and within scope and budget. You will also be responsible for risk management, change control, reporting, and timeline governance for your project area. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

 

  • AI & Automation Project Delivery: Lead the delivery of a dedicated project focused on AI-driven optimisation, automation, and advanced analytics within a manufacturing environment. Coordinate technical teams to ensure successful integration of AI use cases, automation workflows, and data-enabled decision-making tools. 
  • Project Scheduling & Time Management: Develop and manage detailed project schedules, incorporating equipment integration, data flows, automation deployment, and commissioning activities. Track milestones and ensure timely delivery. 
  • Cost Control & Budgeting: Create and manage budgets related to AI and automation initiatives, ensuring accurate cost tracking for technology, engineering resources, and external partners. 
  • Risk Management: Identify risks linked to data availability, automation performance, system integration, and manufacturing operations. Develop mitigation and contingency plans. 
  • Change Control: Manage scope changes, assessing impacts on timelines, budgets, and AI deployment considerations. 
  • Performance Reporting: Provide clear reporting on project progress, readiness for gateways, and performance metrics. Communicate project insights, data-driven findings, and trends to senior stakeholders. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, procurement, data/IT, and automation teams to ensure alignment on requirements, data availability, and deployment readiness. 
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that AI and automation solutions meet quality, performance, safety, and compliance standards before operational rollout. 
  • Documentation: Maintain precise project documentation, including data interface specs, validation records, and change logs to ensure a reliable single source of truth.

What you’ll bring…

Required Skills

 

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Advanced Power BI and reporting skills (dashboards, modelling, optimisation).
  • Knowledge of data platforms and integration (data lakes/warehouses, governance, data quality).
  • Experience or exposure to AI, automation, or advanced analytics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proactive problem‑solver with strong root‑cause analysis skills.

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, or similar.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Power Automate, UI Path.
  • Experience in PMO or programme roles, ideally within manufacturing or engineering.
