As part of our journey, we’re seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our Test Operations team. Based across Coventry and Somerset, this is a unique opportunity to play a hands-on role in testing and validating battery cells that will power tomorrow’s energy systems.
The Opportunity
In this critical role, you’ll lead the execution of comprehensive cell testing programs aligned with APQP development processes. You’ll be the go-to expert for delivering accurate, timely, and reliable test results that feed directly into our product validation lifecycle.
You’ll also play a central role in shaping our growing testing capabilities—including commissioning a brand-new test facility. From defining test equipment and processes to trialling cutting-edge technologies, your work will directly contribute to product quality, performance, and safety.

Key Responsibility Areas
What You’ll Be Doing

Oversee and execute battery cell test campaigns with a focus on precision, compliance, and efficiency.

Validate and document results in line with system-level requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Ensure all testing activities meet internal standards and industry regulations (UN, ISO, EN, etc.).

Contribute to the strategic development of the Test Engineering function—shaping roadmaps, investment cases, and capabilities.

Partner closely with Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Software teams to ensure test feedback loops drive real-world improvements.

Define and maintain test equipment requirements, ensuring our infrastructure evolves with the product.

Manage procurement and commissioning of test facilities in collaboration with external partners.

Promote the use of automated testing to improve repeatability, speed, and test coverage.

Lead root cause analyses for test failures, driving corrective action and supporting design and process improvement.

Present key findings, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
What you will Bring
Essential Skills & Experience

Extensive hands-on experience in battery cell testing.

Deep understanding of test planning, execution, and analysis in scientific/engineering environments.

Familiarity with relevant testing standards (ISO, EN, UN, etc.).

Experience with test rigs, environmental chambers, and battery test equipment—specifying, commissioning, and maintaining them.

Strong knowledge of performance, durability, environmental, and abuse testing for EV battery systems.

Proficiency in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action planning.

Excellent interpersonal skills; a confident communicator and collaborator across functions.
Desirable

Understanding of Design & Process Validation for lithium-ion cells.
