Purpose of the Role

Agratas, a pioneering force in battery technology, is on a mission to deliver the next generation of sustainable energy solutions. As we expand our world-class R&D centre in Oxford, we are seeking a Facility Test Technician to play a key role in the setup and execution of battery cell testing in our electrochemical laboratories.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician looking to deepen their expertise in battery testing while helping shape a new test facility at the forefront of clean energy innovation.

The Testing Facility Technician is a key role at the Agratas R&D centre working in the cell testing laboratories, setting up batteries for testing according to a prescribed test plan. They will ensure safety and compliance of the laboratory, support reporting of data back to projects. This is an ideal opportunity for someone experienced in working in electrochemcial testing labs.

Key Responsibility Areas

 

  • Electrochemical Testing Facility Operations
    Set up and execute battery cell testing according to prescribed test plans. Make basic adjustments to test protocols as needed. Ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance of the lab. Participate in safety audits and drive continuous improvements.

  • Scheduling & Planning Support
    Assist in scheduling test activities and aligning lab resources with project timelines.

  • Data Handling & Communication
    Maintain clear and accurate logs for all tests. Assist scientists with data extraction and basic interpretation. Communicate any test anomalies or observations clearly to project teams.

  • Equipment Maintenance
    Ensure test equipment is calibrated, functioning correctly, and maintained to a high standard. Manage consumables and spare parts inventory. Liaise with equipment vendors and stay informed about technology developments.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in an electrochemical or battery testing lab.

  • Hands-on experience with common battery test equipment and following engineering SOPs.

  • Strong understanding of battery safety and lab practices, including 5S and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable mentoring less experienced technicians and working collaboratively with project managers and site teams.

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Familiarity with script-based test setup procedures.

  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Previous experience in the setup or operation of a new testing facility is a plus.
