The Opportunity

 

We’re seeking a technically skilled and innovation-driven Manager – BMS Algorithms to lead the development of advanced battery management system algorithms across our global teams. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, accuracy, and efficiency of our battery systems — influencing how our technology performs in real-world conditions.

This role sits at the intersection of control systems engineering, data modelling, and electrochemical science, offering a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge battery tech in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibility Areas

 

  • Lead the development of advanced BMS algorithms for State of Health (SOH), State of Charge (SOC), State of Power (SOP) and early failure detection.

  • Ensure algorithm robustness, accuracy, and compliance with industry safety standards and government regulations.

  • Design and implement lab tests, HIL/MIL/SIL environments to validate and calibrate control models.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with cell, pack, quality, and manufacturing teams to define data requirements and support BMS-related investigations.

  • Stay up to date with industry advancements by engaging with academic literature and attending conferences.

  • Support issue resolution for customer-facing BMS concerns and contribute to continuous improvement of software solutions.

 

What You’ll Bring

 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in BMS software development with proven technical impact.

  • Expert-level proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and control algorithm development tools.

  • Strong understanding of battery modelling (e.g., ECM, P2D models).

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

 

Desirable Skills

  • PhD in a relevant discipline.

  • In-depth knowledge of lithium-ion electrochemistry and failure mechanisms.

  • Familiarity with BMS architecture, hardware/firmware, and integration techniques.

  • Experience with AI/ML optimisation techniques for control algorithms.

  • Understanding of ISO 26262 and automotive functional safety standards.
