Purpose of the Role

Scientist – Semi‑Solid‑State Batteries (SSSB) / All‑Solid‑State Batteries (ASSB)

Oxford, Milton Park
Technology – Cell R&D

Fundamental Research Team

Shape the Future of All‑Solid‑State Battery Technology

Agratas is on a mission to power a more sustainable future. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons, we are designing, developing, and manufacturing next‑generation lithium‑ion batteries for mobility and energy storage. Backed by Tata’s global scale and driven by a start‑up mindset, we’re building something extraordinary—and our Cell R&D Facility in Oxfordshire is at the heart of that ambition.
We are now expanding our Fundamental Research Team, led by Dr. Shayan Meysami, and seeking a passionate Scientist specialising in Semi‑Solid‑State or All‑Solid‑State Batteries. This is a rare opportunity to work at the frontier of battery innovation, contributing directly to the breakthroughs that will define the next era of energy storage.
If you’re driven by scientific curiosity, excited by complex materials challenges, and motivated to turn research into real‑world impact, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibility Areas

What You’ll Do

As a key member of our solid‑state research group, you will:

Develop and benchmark next‑generation SSSB/ASSB components
– Catholytes, anolytes, electrolyte additives, high‑capacity active materials, separators.

Prototype and test R&D‑scale solid‑state cells
– Build cells, run electrochemical evaluations, and study how materials chemistry, interfaces, and electrode design influence performance.

Collaborate across Cell R&D
– Work with materials, electrode, and cell teams to evaluate components at every level.

Analyse, document, and communicate findings
– Turn experimental data into insights that guide our technology roadmap.

Support daily lab operations
– Maintain dry/wet labs, analytical equipment, and benchtop prototyping lines.

Drive scale‑up from concept to multi‑layer pouch cells
– Help translate breakthrough ideas into manufacturable solutions.

Job Context

What You Bring
