The Opportunity
The Senior Electrode Design Engineer will support the design, focus on the electrode, including finalize electrode composition and design with consideration of process concept and productivity. This role create development plan for electrode design include electrode process, execute DOEs and validation while collaborating closely with the R&D and process engineering teams in a prototype environment.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Electrode Design & Development: Develop and execute test plans supporting the design and optimisation of LIBs electrode, to meet electrode performance including processability and electric characteristics.
- Materials Selection: Evaluate and optimize electrode design and materials(Active material/Binder/Conductive/Foil), based on electrochemical performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Support vendor communication as a subject matter expert.
- Electrode Process: Development and optimization electrode process, collaborate with process engineers to fulfil the processability and productivity in bases electrode design concept and targetcharacteristics.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Integrate design considerations that enhance manufacturability, yield, and cost-efficiency for large-scale production.
- Innovation & Problem-Solving: Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve cell performance, safety, and efficiency.
Job Context
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Battery Cell Design Expertise: Deep understanding of Li-ion battery chemistry, especially on electrode materials and designs. And capability to explain electrode design affects on cell performance and productivity.
- Experience directly supporting customer communication as cell design subject matter expert.
- Product Development: Familiarity with APQP milestones.
- Experience developing specifications for electrode materials and process.
- Experience supporting DFMEA/PFMEA as a subject matter expert in electrode material and process concept.
- Experience using statistical tools to develop and execute experimental plans.
- Materials Science and Process: Required broad knowledge and understanding of electrode materials and processes. Performance requirements of electrode materials, the electrode technologies that realize these materials into actual battery performance, and the ability to validate formulations and processes not only for development but also with consideration for mass production.
- Electrode Analysis and Testing: A deep understanding of electrode performance analysis and electrode manufacturing processes that influence it, as well as the resulting battery performance. In addition, knowledge of various analysis and testing methods to investigate these aspects is required. · Prototyping & Scale-Up: Direct experience transitioning designs from concept to prototype scale and working with manufacturing teams to ensure future scalability (DFM).
- Analytical Thinking: Proficiency in data analysis, modelling, and interpreting results to drive design improvements. Expertise in root cause failure analysis. Adept at developing contingency plans and identifying the best solution path under tight deadlines. · Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with R&D, engineering, and product teams.
Role Specific Qualifications/Certifications
- This role is ideal for candidates with extensive experience and a PhD in cell design, materials science, or electrochemistry, with a proven track record of innovating in Li-ion battery development.

- Experience mentoring Jr engineers
- Strong communication with excellent stakeholder management – ability to develop and maintain effective working
