Purpose of the Role
Senior Finance Business Partner – Technology (R&D)
Location: Oxfordshire, UK
Hybrid: 4 days on‑site initially, moving to 3 days over time
The Opportunity
Agratas is on a mission to power a more sustainable future. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons, we are designing, developing, and manufacturing cutting‑edge lithium‑ion batteries for the mobility and energy‑storage sectors. Backed by Tata’s global scale and legacy, we operate with the ambition and agility of a scale‑up – and we’re only just getting started.
At our state‑of‑the‑art Cell R&D Facility in Oxfordshire, we’re building something truly special. To support this growth, we’re expanding our Cell R&D function with a passionate Technology Finance Business Partner who will work hand‑in‑hand with our scientists, engineers, and technology leaders at the forefront of battery innovation.
This is not a back‑office finance role. It’s a highly visible, strategic position where you’ll partner closely with our Technology Leadership Team, shaping decisions from early‑stage research concepts through to battery pack development programmes. You’ll influence how we invest, scale, and innovate as we build a world‑class global technology organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Act as a trusted financial adviser to Technology leadership – forecasting costs, controlling spend, and guiding strategic decision‑making.
• Lead budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting, and long‑term planning, ensuring alignment with our technology roadmap and organisational priorities.
• Drive financial excellence as we commission and scale our global technology facilities, partnering with Programme Management, HR, IT, Procurement, and local leadership teams.
• Support business case development and ongoing monitoring of research, product development, and engineering portfolio projects.
• Partner with HR to forecast headcount and support workforce ramp‑up planning across global R&D sites.
• Champion continuous improvement, enhancing reporting, processes, and operational efficiency.
• Line‑manage and develop an existing Finance Analyst within the team.
• Lead finance workstreams for SAP S/4HANA implementation, ensuring readiness and adoption.
• Adapt and grow with the business – responsibilities will evolve as Agratas scales at pace.

What You’ll Bring
• Qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Finance Business Partner supporting senior leadership, including C‑Suite stakeholders.
• Background in R&D‑focused industries such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, engineering, or advanced technology.
