What you’ll do…

You’ll lead process safety across a high‑hazard manufacturing site, ensuring major accident risks are identified, understood and controlled in line with COMAH requirements. Leading the Process Safety Engineering team, you’ll act as the key interface between Process Engineering, Operations and the HSE function, embedding process safety into engineering design, change management and day‑to‑day operations.

You’ll oversee hazard studies, risk assessments, incident learning and safety case activities, while providing credible advice, challenge and assurance to senior leaders. You’ll also support regulatory engagement and demonstrate ongoing compliance with recognised standards and management systems.

This is a maternity leave cover role on a fixed term contract basis for up to 12 months. 

The team you’ll join…

You’ll lead a specialist Process Safety Engineering team working closely with Engineering, Projects, Operations and HSE colleagues. The team plays a critical role in supporting a complex, regulated operation and forms part of the wider Health, Safety and Environmental team.

What you’ll bring…

You’ll bring proven process or operational safety experience within a COMAH‑regulated or similar high‑hazard environment, supported by a strong engineering background. You’ll have experience leading hazard studies and major accident hazard controls, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and regulators. Strong leadership, sound judgement and deep knowledge of UK HSE and COMAH frameworks are essential.
