Purpose of the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior HV Battery Systems Engineer with a broad knowledge of automotive battery technologies and their application in vehicles to join our highly skilled and dynamic Systems Engineering Team. Reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the end-to-end delivery of our Battery Pack programmes.You will lead the requirements interpretation, decomposition, and target setting for many aspects of our automotive battery packs working closely with the Product, CAE, Design, and Test teams, as well as assisting with test data analysis and interpretation in relation to requirements to establish compliance and the impact of any deviations.Your responsibilities will also include supporting process optimization, project documentation, and reporting, ensuring that the Engineering teams have a robust way of working.
This is a hybrid working role that will be based in our Coventry office. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of sustainable energy solutions in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Supporting the successful delivery of our Engineering projects to ensure achievement of core company objectives.
- Ensure and drive continuous improvement throughout all Systems Engineering aspects of projects.
- Defining key battery pack requirements using low fidelity simulation methods, requesting high fidelity simulations (where needed) from CAE team, and aligning with product requirements.
- Establishing compliance of designs to defined requirements utilising CAE and physical test methods.
- Harnessing the understanding of the implications of changes to battery cells and other key technologies on the overall behaviour of a pack.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in Systems Engineering or similar roles, with involvement in bringing products to market.
- Familiarity with high-voltage battery systems and electric vehicle technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A natural curiosity for understanding how systems function through their individual components.
- Experience in automotive product development (e.g., exposure to APQP, ISO 26262, ASPICE).
- A broad understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals applied across the full product lifecycle.
Desirable Skills
- Proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g., Polarion, DOORS, Jama, or similar).
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
